Cataloguing Priorities 2007

We aim to catalogue as many of them as we possibly can in the near future, but some collections are very large and cannot be undertaken within our existing resources. We continually seek opportunities for funding to enable us to undertake more cataloguing projects. Since we last updated the list in 2005 we have completed work on three priority assignments - North East Coast Institute of Engineers and Shipbuilders, Northumberland Village Homes and J & W Lory Ltd (and the Lowry family). We have also catalogued all prinicipal council minutes. The Heritage Lottery Funded report on the shipbuilding collections made a number of recommendations, which we are about to start implementing to improve access to the most important parts of them. We are currently working on the papers of Joseph Swan, as well as completing many smaller cataloguing assignments.
